19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been earned on hard surfaces

A comeback Medvedev secured his first championship for nearly 30 months with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament final.

The Russian, a ex- number one, has endured a challenging season, winning just a single victory at the major tournaments and experiencing a setback at the American major.

The player's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and struggles with his service game in especial - caused him falling of the top ten and eventually separating with long-time coach Cervara.

Currently working with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has gradually progressed in the past month - culminating in a tightly fought competitive victory over Frenchman Moutet.

It is the player's initial trophy since the Italian tournament and first on a hard court from March of the previous year.

The win also means Medvedev has won 21 victories at 21 various events.

"It's the first time I am participating in a competition with my children at once, so to win a title is particularly special," stated world number 14 the champion.

"This victory is in honour of my younger daughter her name, because the initial championship I got when my child my daughter was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had failed in his previous six title deciders, comprising in that event earlier this year.

The player's retrieving play style and frequent outbursts on court had caused observers to wonder if his skill to compete at the top level was concluded.

But the athlete has altered his approach in the past month, striving to come to the net and compete assertively, backed up by an better service.

The champion recovered from a deficit in the opening set against the tricky Moutet, taking four of the final five points to take the lead.

The competitors exchanged break points in the middle set before Moutet, attempting for his initial ATP Tour title, gained dominance to force a final set.

He saved 4 early-game chances in a close deciding set before the champion secured a break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Appropriately, the winner earned the title with a rally at the net, with Moutet incapable to manage a shot after a lengthy match.
